Antelopes finish Daytona 100 with 4-0 record

GCU (5-8) beat Lees-McRae Saturday afternoon 3-0 by set scores of 30-27, 30-22, 30-28. It followed up with a 3-1 evening win over Limestone by scores of 30-27, 30-21, 27-30, 30-21.
The four-match winning streak is the second-year program's longest success streak. Two individual school records were broken and another tied during the weekend.
In Saturday's win over Limestone, freshman libero Trent Bruns (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo) set a new mark for digs with 23. Sophomore Brock Hutchins (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert/Hawai'i) tied the school record for kills in the match with 20. Sophomore Taylor Griffin (Tucson, Ariz./Ironwood Ridge) had 20 in a match last season.
In Friday's win over Limestone, freshman middle hitter Chris Lockwood (pictured, Lakewood, Calif./Lakewood) set a new school mark for blocks with nine (four solos, five assists).
In Saturday's win over Lees-McRae, sophomore Nick Jensen (Herning, Denmark/Ikast Gymnasium/NJIT) had season-bests in kills (17) and hitting percentage (.519). His attack average is the second best in school history for a player with 12 or more kills.
Bruns had 19 digs and freshman setter Brad Moore (Orange, Calif./Lutheran) had 12 digs and 39 assists. Hutchins added 10 kills.
In the Limestone win, Moore had 11 digs and 42 assists. Lockwood had two service aces and seven block assists. Hutchins had six block assists. Griffin had 11 kills and eight digs. Jensen had nine kills, one solo block and five block assists.
GCU is off until a Feb. 12-13 trip for a pair of MIVA contests at IPFW.
