Grand Canyon lost both games of a doubleheader in the final two home games of the season, 18-4 and 6-5 to Hawaii Pacific Saturday at Brazell Stadium.
HPU, ranked 10th in the West Region, scored seven runs in the first inning and six more in the third in the first game to put the opener out of reach. The SeaWarriors (30-16-1) had 20 hits, and the Antelopes (11-36) used six pitchers and four catchers. GCU's Taylor Hill, Robert Shoemaker, John Stanko (pictured), Gabriel Servin, senior Jeremiah Frey and Byron Reischl all toed the rubber in the opener.
GCU had nine hits, scoring three runs in sixth and one in the seventh.
Senior Brian Evans was 2 for 3 and scored two runs. Senior Nick Lowery went 2 for 4 and scored a run, and Reischl was 2 for 4 with two RBI. Jeff Mutchler had a hit in his only at-bat, and Joe Jacobson went 1 for 1 with an RBI. Senior Len Shimabuku was 1 for 2.
