GCU gets doubleheader sweep of Dixie State

On Saturday, Grand Canyon didn't look much like the team that opened its Pacific West Conference season Friday against Dixie State.
After a disappointing 7-0 loss Friday, the Lopes earned their first doubleheader sweep of the season with 5-1 and 12-4 victories over the Red Storm at Brazell Stadium.
The teams finish the series noon Sunday at Brazell Stadium. With a GCU win, the Lopes will be tied for the league lead with Hawai'i Pacific.
Damion Swisher (pictured) threw his second complete game of the season and earned his first victory in the opener, giving up just three hits and fanning eight.
In the second game, the heroics went to senior third baseman Matt Fox, who hit a pair of home runs and drove in six.
