HILO, HI -- Grand Canyon was swept in a doubleheader by Hawaii-Hilo to open the five-game series with the Vulcans at Wong Stadium Monday.

GCU drops to 9-16 overall and 3-7 in the PacWest. The Lopes lost the opener 7-3 and fell in the second game 8-0. The teams meet again Tuesday for a 3 p.m. HT doubleheader. A single nine-inning non-conference game will be played Wednesday.

All three runs on the day came on a 3-run homer from John Stanko (pictured).
