Lopes lose opener at Chico State

CHICO, Calif. -- Grand Canyon lost the opener of a four-game series at No. 32 Chico State 7-3 at Nettleton Stadium Friday.
GCU (13-26) managed just five hits off Wildcats' starter Pete Mickartz, who celebrated his 22nd birthday by fanning eight and improving his record to 6-3.
Three of the Lopes five hits came in the ninth, including a three-run home run by Taylor McGregor (pictured).
