Grand Canyon 157-pound wrestler Stephen Towne is emerging as a bright young star on the mat.

Towne (pictured) went 2-1 at the Arizona State Sun Devil Duals Sunday at Wells Fargo Arena. He beat Arizona State's Preston Pruett 7-2 and Army's Chris Grill 7-4. Towne lost to Pennsylvania's Tommy Timmothy 5-3.

GCU's Jack Porter beat ASU's Cory Nelson 12-4 at 174. GCU's Tony Covert decisioned ASU's Tyler Bowles 6-3 at 125. Grand Canyon won all of its head-to-head matches against Arizona St.

The Antelopes lost to NCAA Division I No. 23-ranked Penn 54-0. They fell to Army 53-3, and lost to Arizona State 42-10.

GCU heavyweight Jed Jobe made his season debut, losing to Penn's Trey McLean in a 4:41 fall.
