Bryan Lee leads the way in ‘Lopes victory over the Vulcans
1/17/07 -- (Phoenix, AZ) -- Grand Canyon senior center Bryan Lee had 18 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots to pace GCU past the visiting Vulcans from University of Hawaii-Hilo tonight at Antelope Gymnasium by a 73-60 margin. Three other Antelopes scored in double figures, including a season high 14 points off the bench by Milee Karre. Karre hit four-of-six from three-point range.
Vince Alvarado tallied 13 points to lead Hilo on four-of-eight shooting from behind the three-point arc. While the 'Lopes shot 52% overall (27-of-52) from the floor, both teams struggled from three-point range.
Grand Canyon improves to 8-5 overall and 3-1 in Pacific West Conference play. UH-Hilo falls to 6-11 and 3-2. The two teams meet again on Thursday night at GCU's Antelope Gymnasium with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 PM (MST).
