PHOENIX-Shane Wright threw his second complete game of the season, striking out six and scattering six hits, as Texas Tech (ranked No. 9 in Baseball Weekly and No. 17 in Collegiate Baseball) defeated Grand Canyon, 7-1, at Brazell Stadium on Wednesday.
The series was shortened to one game, after yesterday's game was rained out.
The Red Raiders (8-2) jumped out to a 5-0 lead after three innings, capped off by Junior Rodriguez's two-run homer, his sixth of the season, in the third off Canyon starter
Bill Curtis (Grand Rapids, MI), who fell to 1-1.
The Antelopes' lone run, an unearned run, came in the eighth on an RBI ground out by
Cody Ransom (Chandler, AZ).
Rick Kerns (Peoria, AZ) scored after reaching base on a Rodriguez error to lead off the inning. Canyon (8-3) never really threatened to score off Wright (3-0) until that point.
