At the time of his induction, Tom Tellmann was GCU's most successful baseball product. After spending his senior season at Grand Canyon in 1976, Tellmann was selected in the major league free agent draft by the San Diego Padres. He made his major league debut with San Diego before moving over to the Milwaukee Brewers. Milwaukee named him their organizational Rookie of the Year in 1983. He was 15-7 out of the bullpen with a 2.68 ERA for the Brewers. At Grand Canyon, Tellmann was named NAIA All-District VII, All-Area II and First Team All-American in his only GCU season. His 16 single season wins is the most in GCU history and his single season totals for ERA, strikeouts and innings pitched are still all-time "Top 10" listed.
