Tryout Application for Thunder
The students who train as Thunder are employed by GCU as student workers and must meet all eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment. Those requirements are:
- Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program
- Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student
- Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University
Please do not submit this application if you currently have a student worker position or if you are selected, you do not plan on leaving your current student worker position (you cannot have 2 student worker positions). We are looking for 2-3 students for this position and the start date would be September 2022. This position has potential option to carry into the summer but is not guaranteed.
In addition to the requirements above, we are looking for extremely outgoing and charismatic individuals to train as Thunder. Applicants must have tremendous time-management skills, be great communicators, self-motivated and work well on a team. Applicants must have a love and passion for GCU Athletics and representing the brand of Grand Canyon University. Finally, applicants must be trustworthy and coachable as the success of this position is dependent on one’s ability to learn.
