Dennis Flowers completed his second season as Special Assistant to the Head Coach and third season as team manager in 2020.
Flowers helped the Lopes to one of their best starts yet in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic cut the season short. GCU took three wins against top-10 teams: No. 9 Stanford, No. 8 UCLA and No. 6 Pepperdine in 2020, marking the program's first wins against Stanford and UCLA. The Lopes also reached their highest ranking in program history at No. 8 on Feb. 24, 2020.
Flowers first season with the men's team included a conference transition when the Lopes moved from the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF). The season was met with great success and prompted Flowers to stay with the program.
"When the opportunity came to work under coach Werle and the rest of the staff, it was something that I could not pass up," Flowers said. "I love seeing this program grow and continue to reach new heights nationally."
Prior to working with the men's program, Flowers helped manage the GCU women's volleyball program under direction of head coach Tim Nollan for two seasons. His duties included assisting in daily operations for the team, technology coordination, managing of equipment and various other tasks.
Flowers is currently a junior studying Sociology with a minor in Biblical Studies.
