Ruby Ochoa joined GCU’s athletic staff in August of 2026 as the Development Coordinator.
In her role, Ruby will help grow Lopes Club memberships through stewardship, special events, athletic alumni engagement, and donor management. She is skilled in relationship building and event planning.
Prior to joining GCU, Ruby earned her Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Studies and Services from the University of Arizona and her Master of Education in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership from the University of Washington. Ruby also interned with the Miner Athletic Club at the University of Texas at El Paso which solidified her love for the field of Development in athletics. During this time, Ruby was selected to be a member of the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD) cohort where she connected with leaders in the field of intercollegiate development and attended the NACDA conference.
“I couldn’t be more excited for the future of our athletics development office! Ruby is a hardworker and she truly cares about people, which matters most to me. I know our Lopes Club members will be thrilled to work with her,” says Jerome Garrison, Director of GCU Athletics Development.
Ruby is a native of El Paso, Texas where she graduated from Eastwood High School. In her free time, Ruby enjoys baking, learning how to play golf, and watching sports.
