Nick Macdonald is in his third year as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications having joined the staff in August of 2022. He serves as the primary contact for men’s soccer, women’s basketball, men’s golf and women’s golf.

A graduate of Grand Canyon in 2017, Macdonald worked in the athletic department as a senior in the facilities and operations department during the 2016-17 athletic season, performing various duties including set and tear down of athletic events, game clock operator and statistician.

After graduating, Macdonald served as a graduate assistant in sports information at Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa. There, he helped oversee all 20 sports with responsibilities of website management, written press releases, social media management and record book tracking.

Macdonald moved to Durham, N.C., during January of 2019 and became a sports information assistant, working primarily with rowing, men’s tennis, cross country and track & field as well as serving as secondary contact for men’s basketball. During his time at Duke, he helped cover a men’s basketball team that won the 2019 ACC Championship Tournament and reach the Elite Eight as well as rowing’s first ever NCAA Championship berth.

Macdonald joined University of Pittsburgh’s athletic communications department in November of 2019 and served as primary contact for men’s soccer and softball as well as secondary contact for men’s basketball. He helped run the social media accounts and handled day to day media relations duties during men’s soccer’s 2020-21 College Cup and 2021 Elite Eight runs.

Macdonald graduated from Grand Canyon in 2017 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Sports Management. He resides in Tempe, Ariz.
