Johnny Neafus is entering his second year as an assistant coach with the GCU women’s team. Neafus has been coaching and developing players in the valley for the past 19 years and most recently coached and served as a pro trainer for CCV Star soccer club beginning in 2004. Prior to CCV, he was with Cisco, West Valley and Sunburst Soccer.
Growing up in the valley, Neafus played for local youth clubs and throughout high school with Cisco and Saguaro Soccer clubs. Neafus served in the U.S. Air Force from 1989 – 1993. He played soccer for the USAF in England From 1990- 1992, making the All-England team in 1991.
Over the years Neafus has lead many players to the college ranks. He has earned his USSF “D” license and his NSCAA Advanced National Diploma. He continues to learn and strives to lead players on and off the pitch.
Neafus is married and has 4 kids and 2 grandchildren. He has worked in real estate since 2001.
