Sierra Smith joined GCU in the summer of 2019 as a graduate assistant with Athletic Communications, then was promoted to Assistant Director of Athletic Communications in October 2020. She graduated with her MBA in December 2020.
Smith attended GCU during her undergrad, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Business Management while starring on the softball team for four seasons.
As a GCU student, Smith was hired by Lifetime Fitness in 2016 and served three years in the Kids' Activities Department. She also spent a year acting as the brand ambassador/social media chair for Sons of Arizona, a local nonprofit organization that serves children’s charities in Arizona.
While playing softball for the Lopes, Smith was named to the WAC All-Academic Team all four years and was named to the All-WAC first team for the 2017 season, which is the year the Lopes were WAC regular-season champions. She earned Second Team All-West Region honors and was named to the All-WAC Tournament team in 2018 and was selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-District team in 2019.
Smith was a GCU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee member and social media chair. Additionally, she was named GCU’s Female Student-Athlete of the Year for 2018-19.
Smith, her parents and four older siblings grew up in Waddell, Arizona.
