Cristy Knight begins her sixth year as a volunteer assistant at Grand Canyon. She is responsible for on-field instruction, player development and assists as a base coach. Knight was a volunteer assistant with Arizona State from 2001-03, working with outfielders and handled administratitive duties. Knight has coached at Horizon, Mesa and Paradise Valley High Schools in the Valley since 1991. She has assisted in numerous coaching clinics and offered private hitting lessons for the past 13 years. A nationally certified strength and conditioning specialist, Knight played at San Diego State University, leading the Aztecs in RBIs, hits, runs, slugging percentage and total bases. Prior to her days at SDSU, she played two years at Scottsdale Community College, where she was a two-time All-Arizona Community College Athletic Conference selection. Knight also played volleyball for one year at SCC. Raised in Phoenix, she obtained her Master’s Degree in Secondary Education & Health Sciences from Northern Arizona University in 2006. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Education from NAU in 1996.
