Kemp Van Es is in his first season with the Grand Canyon men’s basketball program in 2026-27, serving as a graduate assistant.
Van Es joins the Lopes after four seasons at Hawai‘i Pacific. The Phoenix native appeared in 31 games for the Sharks from 2023-26, recording 34 points, 13 rebounds and three assists. He played a career-high 13 games during his senior season, averaging 6.2 minutes per game while shooting 38.1% from the field.
Van Es was part of the Hawai‘i Pacific team that earned a road upset of Boise State in 2025. He graduated from Arcadia High School in Phoenix, where he played under coaches Phil Lozevski and Showtime Whitmore.
Van Es earned his degree in business management from Hawai‘i Pacific.
