Frank Adams joined GCU’s sports medicine staff in 2025 as the head athletic trainer for the men’s basketball program. He provides comprehensive athletic training services, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation and return-to-play protocols for the Lopes.
Adams brings extensive professional basketball experience to GCU, having spent six years as an assistant athletic trainer with the Phoenix Suns. During his time in the NBA, he worked closely with players and performance staff to design and implement individualized care plans, manage daily treatments and support athlete health throughout long competitive seasons.
Prior to his time with the Suns, Adams served as the head athletic trainer for the Iowa Wolves, overseeing all aspects of sports medicine and player care for the G League organization. He also spent two years as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Abilene Christian from 2015-17, providing coverage for multiple sports and assisting with the daily operations of the athletic training room.
His early career included an internship at North Carolina State, where he gained valuable experience supporting Division I athletic programs through treatments, rehabilitation and travel responsibilities.
Adams earned a Master of Education in kinesiology, sport, and recreation from Hardin-Simmons. The Atlanta native completed his undergraduate studies and basketball career at Florida Southern with a Bachelor of Science in athletic training after beginning his collegiate career at Young Harris College in Georgia, where he was a three-year member of the men’s basketball team and was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 2021.
