Marc Rodgers is in his fourth season on the Grand Canyon men's basketball staff in 2026-27 and serves as associate head coach.
Rodgers has helped GCU sustain one of the most successful stretches in program history, with consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances in his first two seasons and a record-setting transition to the Mountain West in his third.
His first season with the Lopes in 2023-24 became the best Division I season in program history. GCU won 30 games, captured the WAC regular-season and tournament championships and earned its first NCAA Tournament victory by defeating fifth-seeded Saint Mary's. The Lopes also produced their first WAC Player of the Year in Tyon Grant-Foster, earned the program's first two wins against AP Top 25 opponents and finished among the nation's top 50 in the NET rankings.
GCU returned to March Madness in 2024-25 after finishing second in the WAC regular-season standings and winning three consecutive WAC Tournament games. The championship gave the Lopes consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and their fourth trip to the tournament in five seasons.
Rodgers helped guide GCU through another major step in 2025-26 as the program moved into the Mountain West. The Lopes tied for third place in their first season in the conference, becoming the most successful debuting team in MW history. GCU went 13-7 in league play, split with eventual conference champion Utah State and swept second-place San Diego State.
Prior to GCU, Rodgers spent two seasons at Wyoming and helped the Cowboys reach the 2022 NCAA Tournament with an at-large bid after a 25-9 season. Wyoming recorded its most victories in 70 years, reached the national top 25 and exceeded a preseason prediction of eighth place in the Mountain West.
Rodgers initially joined Wyoming as director of recruiting before moving into an assistant coaching role. His Los Angeles connections played a significant role in the Cowboys' transfer portal recruiting, including the additions of USC transfers Ethan Anderson and Max Agbonkpolo and UCLA transfer Jake Kyman.
The Los Angeles native previously served as an assistant coach at Long Beach State in 2020-21 after beginning his Division I coaching career there as a graduate assistant in 2018-19. His background also includes experience as a high school head coach, club basketball coach and player development coach in Southern California.
Rodgers' coaching career began shortly after completing his playing career at Central Washington. A point guard, he was a four-year starter during a college career spanning 2013-18 and earned Scholar-Athlete recognition while completing his degree in sociology.
Before college, Rodgers was a standout point guard at Cathedral High School in Los Angeles. His playing and coaching background in Southern California has helped him build extensive recruiting relationships throughout the West Coast and nationally.
