Jordan McCabe is in his second season on the Grand Canyon men's basketball staff in 2026-27 and serves as an assistant coach.

McCabe joined head coach Bryce Drew's staff in June 2025 and helped GCU make a successful transition to the Mountain West in his first season with the program. The Lopes tied for third place in their inaugural MW season with a 13-7 conference record, becoming the most successful debuting team in league history. GCU split with eventual conference champion Utah State and swept second-place San Diego State.

McCabe arrived at GCU after beginning his coaching career with stops at West Virginia and Green Bay. He spent the 2023-24 season on the West Virginia staff before joining Green Bay in 2024, where he was retained by head coach Doug Gottlieb after initially being hired by Sundance Wicks.

His move to GCU came four years after McCabe considered joining the Lopes as a player. Following three seasons at West Virginia, McCabe chose UNLV over GCU — noting Jovan Blacksher Jr.'s foothold on the point guard position — when he entered the transfer portal in 2021 and went on to spend his final two collegiate seasons with the Runnin' Rebels.

McCabe started every game for UNLV in 2021-22, averaging 4.4 assists for an 18-14 team. Over his five-year college career, the point guard maintained better than a 2-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio while playing three seasons under Hall of Fame coach Bob Huggins at West Virginia and two under Kevin Kruger at UNLV.

Long before his college career, McCabe gained national attention for his ball-handling ability. The Wisconsin native developed his skills through extensive training as a youngster and appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, performed at halftime of college and NBA games and showcased his ball-handling at NBA All-Star Weekend in 2011.

McCabe's prominence continued throughout his playing career through basketball instructional and social media content. Videos featuring his ball-handling and guard development have reached millions of viewers, giving him a platform to teach many of the same skills he now brings to player development as a coach.

McCabe was named Wisconsin's Mr. Basketball in 2018 after a standout high school career, earning the honor in a class that included future NBA All-Star Tyrese Haliburton.

His combination of high-level playing experience, player development background and early coaching experience has allowed McCabe to build a reputation as a young coach who connects naturally with guards and brings an energetic approach to skill development.

Jordan and his wife, Olivia, were married in May 2025.
