Mike Henriques finished his third year with GCU sports performance staff in 2019-20, working with the baseball and men's volleyball programs.
Henriques comes to GCU with a wealth of experience under his belt. He has 12 years of professional baseball training experience, half of which comes at the Major League level. Most recently, he spent seven years with the Oakland Athletics following positions with teams such as the San Diego Padres, Portland Trail Blazers and Arizona State University.
While Henriques was with the A's he developed and executed strength and conditioning programs for the players, oversaw the minor league strength and conditioning department, employed a full-time staff and generated monthly reports for the front office about player progress.
Before the Athletics, Henriques served the the San Diego Padres for both Minor and Major league organizations. He assisted in the development of the teams inaugural postseason strength and conditioning camp.
Outside of baseball, Henriques spent time with the Trail Blazers from 2007-2010. In that time he led the players' stretch, strength training and conditioning routines while assisting with rehab team as well. He also spent time with Arizona State Sports Performance as an intern where he first developed his skills and training to take with him to the next level.
Henriques is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University with a Bachelor fo Science in Exercise Science and Physical Education.
