Ben Kmetz joined the Grand Canyon University Sports Medicine staff in March 2021 and is in his first year serving as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. He oversees the medical coverage for the Baseball team.
Ben comes to GCU from Penn State University where he worked with the baseball team. Ben spent 4 seasons with the Nittany Lions before returning home to the Phoenix area.
Ben, a native of Phoenix, Arizona, began his education at Northern Arizona University in athletic training, graduating in May 2015. He then went on to receive his master’s degree from East Stroudsburg University in athletic training, graduating in July of 2016.
After receiving his master’s degree, Ben went on to UC Davis where he completed a fellowship in athletic training. During his time at Davis, Ben worked with the football and baseball teams.
Ben holds certification as a Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) and Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
