Ryan Cisterna enters his sixth season at Grand Canyon in 2017 under head coach Andy Stankiewicz where he works primarily with hitters and catchers.

Cisterna brings a wealth of knowledge to the GCU program where he was drafted by three different Major League Baseball clubs. In 2006, Cisterna was drafted by the Kansas City Royals but Cisterna decided to attend school at the University of Arkansas. Once again in 2007 Cisterna was chosen in the MLB Draft, this time by the Washington Nationals.

Cisterna stayed in school where he became one of the nation’s best catchers as he was nominated for the Johnny Bench Award, recognizing the best catcher in the country. Cisterna was a member of the Razorbacks team that made it to the NCAA College World Series in 2009. After an illustrious career at Arkansas, Cisterna was selected by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 2009. Cisterna spent four years with the Angels as both a pitcher and catcher.

Cisterna is from Gilbert, Arizona and is married to Alexandra Cisterna with a two-year old son, Brady.
