Kasey Coffman enters his second season with the Grand Canyon baseball program in 2018, serving as the team's graduate assistant.
In his first season with the club, Coffman helped lead the Lopes to the 2017 Western Athletic Conference regular season championship. GCU posted a 20-4 record, the best conference record the WAC has seen since 2003.
Coffman spent three seasons as an outfielder at Arizona State from 2011-2013. During his three-year career, he was a part of Sun Devil teams that advanced to two regionals and one super regional.
During his time in Tempe, Coffman played in 105 games including 59 in his junior season in 2013. That year, he started 59 of the team's 60 games and batted .332 with eight home runs, nine stolen bases and 44 RBIs while achieving an OPS of .964 en route to being named All-Pac 12 and third team All-American. He was named to the Fullerton Regional team and awarded the Phil Lowery Comeback Player of the Year as a junior.
As a sophomore, Coffman was named as the Jim Brock "Mr. Sun Devil" award winner, as well as being named a scholar athlete as a freshman and a sophomore.
Coffman played in the Western Major Baseball League following his freshman campaign, batting .383 with nine home runs, 18 stolen bases and 45 RBIs while being named the team's MVP. Following his sophomore season, he played in the New England Collegiate Baseball League for the Newport Gulls, a club who was ranked No. 1 by Perfect Game and won the league title. Coffman batted at a .337 clip with six home runs, 10 stolen bases and 44 RBIs, being named an East All-Star.
Following his career at Arizona State, Coffman was drafted in the 10th round of the 2013 MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers, playing three seasons professionally for both the Tigers and the Los Angeles Angels.
A 2010 graduate of Brophy College Prep in Phoenix, Coffman earned three varsity letters in baseball and one in football. He was a baseball team captain during his senior season, earning All-Region honors his junior and senior years. Coffman was a member of the Don Mattingly World Series championship team in 2009, the Connie Mack state championship team in 2010, and was also a member of the 2007 football state championship team at Brophy.
