Strong Competition: Matchups against renowned programs like New Mexico, UNLV, Nevada, San Diego State, Boise State and more.
Next-Level Recruiting: Pedigree that helps attract top-tier talent — the best want to battle the best.
Premium Matchups at Home: Expect packed arenas and must-see home games from Day 1.
New Rivalries. New Traditions. Lope Nation gets a front-row seat to unforgettable matchups that mean more.
On the Road with the Lopes: More marquee travel opportunities and regional rivalries fans can follow.
GCU will become the 12th member of a powerful conference that includes the United States Air Force Academy, University of Nevada, Reno, University of New Mexico, San José State University, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the University of Wyoming, as well as, for one more year, Boise State University, Colorado State University, California State University, Fresno, San Diego State University and Utah State University.
In 2026, University of Hawai'i at Manoa will move from football only to full member status and new members University of California, Davis, University of Texas at El Paso and Northern Illinois University (football only) will join the Mountain West.
Lopes teams will immediately compete in the Mountain West in 17 sports:
Nationally Televised Games: The conference is in the final year of a media rights deal with CBS and FOX. Last year, 63 men’s basketball games were televised nationally. Fans can expect a portion of GCU's conference schedule to be televised nationally on CBS, CBS Sports Network, FOX and FS1. These channels are available on cable (ex: Cox) or satellite TV (ex: Dish, DIRECTV) packages as well as streaming services (Fubo, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, DIRECTV STREAM).
Streaming: All games that are not selected for national television by the conference’s partners will stream free on the Mountain West Network. Fans can download the free Mountain West Network app on smart TVs, mobile devices or stream on desktop. Select GCU sporting events that are not televised nationally may be televised locally with details to be released at a later date.
What about ESPN+: GCU’s home events will no longer stream on ESPN+ under the conference’s media rights deal. This does not include men’s soccer, which remains in the WAC as an affiliate member with matches streaming on ESPN+. Out-of-conference road games may still stream on ESPN+ depending on host institutions’ media rights agreements.

Mountain West men's basketball games are held on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with the conference's media partners reserving the right to move games by one day in either direction. That means conference games may be played on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Game times vary based on broadcast windows and may include additional late tip-offs or weekend afternoon games. The conference schedule was released in early October.
