Unit intertwines GCU broadcasts, digital content and communications with new broadcast room, TV show, podcast
Grand Canyon Athletics is launching Antelope Productions, a new identity for the department's robust in-house broadcast, communications, creative and multimedia operations as GCU expands its original content and storytelling across television, streaming, audio and social media.
The launch brings a unified brand to an operation that reaches Lope Nation daily through live broadcasts, digital content and more than 50 social media channels. New initiatives include a state-of-the-art broadcast control room inside Global Credit Union Arena, a monthly television show on Arizona's Family, a weekly podcast network and an expanded GCU Radio Network.
- Elite competitiveness
- Community impact
- Christ-centered mission
Content will showcase GCU's pursuit of championships, the involvement of Lopes student-athletes and coaches on campus and throughout Phoenix, and the university's Christian mission through stories of faith, purpose and service.
"We already have an incredibly talented group producing content and broadcasts every day. Antelope Productions gives that work a larger identity and creates opportunities to think differently about how we reach Lope Nation.
"We want our fans to see more than what happens during a game. We want them to know the people, understand the passion behind the scenes and see the transformational impact GCU has on our students and in our community."
New broadcast control room elevates live production
Headlining GCU's investment in live production is a professional-grade broadcast control room inside Global Credit Union Arena, giving the university a permanent television production hub for arena events.
The major investment brings technology traditionally housed inside a professional production truck directly into the arena. With high-end replay, graphics, audio, video switching and other systems in-house, GCU can produce network-quality broadcasts for men's basketball, women's basketball and volleyball from the same production infrastructure.
Rather than bringing in outside equipment for select events, the technology is now built into the arena and available throughout the athletics calendar.
The control room also invests in the next generation of sports media professionals. GCU students will work alongside experienced broadcast professionals on equipment used in national television environments, gaining hands-on experience in directing, replay, graphics, technical production, audio and other areas of live broadcasting.
New monthly show brings GCU stories to television
Antelope Productions will debut a monthly television program on Arizona's Family Sports in October, taking viewers beyond game coverage for an inside look at the faith, people and stories that define GCU Athletics.
Fast-moving, 30-minute episodes will feature behind-the-scenes access, mic'd-up segments and personality-driven features. Viewers will see the preparation behind GCU's pursuit of championships, how teams connect with campus and Phoenix, and the role faith plays throughout the department.
The show also will introduce viewers to the personalities who make GCU Athletics operate beyond game day, including university leaders GCU President Brian Mueller and Boggs.
New episodes will air monthly with additional re-airings on Arizona's Family Sports. Segments will be distributed across GCU Athletics social platforms, with full episodes available on the GCU Lopes YouTube channel and MW+.
Lope Nation Pod launches weekly original programming
GCU Athletics also will launch the Lope Nation Pod, a weekly podcast built around the people and stories of the department.
The podcast feed will feature three recurring formats:
- Lope Nation Pod β Conversations with GCU student-athletes and coaches that go deeper into their journeys and experiences.
- Common Ground β Boggs hosts coaches, business leaders and other guests for conversations about leadership, sports and topics beyond competition.
- For His Glory β Faith-focused conversations exploring how faith intersects with athletics, leadership and life.
Short-form clips will be produced for social media, while complete episodes will be available through major podcast platforms, the GCU Lopes YouTube channel and MW+.
GCU Radio Network continues digital expansion
The GCU Radio Network, launched as a digital audio platform last year, also will expand during the 2026-27 basketball season. Every GCU men's and women's basketball game will have a live audio broadcast through the GCU Lopes app and GCULopes.com/Listen.
Jim Howell returns for his second season calling GCU women's basketball after last season's launch of expanded coverage under Lopes head coach Winston Gandy. Broadcasts will continue to combine play-by-play with stories surrounding the program and reaction from Lopes coaches and student-athletes.
Longtime GCU voice Michael Potter and senior writer Paul Coro return for men's basketball, with an interactive video component being added to select pregame and postgame coverage on social platforms. Fans will get live looks at warmups, analysis from the broadcast team and postgame interviews.
Growing GCU's reach across Arizona and beyond
The new original programming joins a growing GCU Athletics media footprint.
GCU and Gray Media announced a multiyear extension in August that continues Arizona's Family as the Official Home of GCU Athletics after the partnership's debut season more than tripled the Lopes' number of locally televised events.
More than 85 live GCU Athletics events aired on 3TV and/or Arizona's Family Sports in the partnership's first year, providing free over-the-air coverage of men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball and men's and women's soccer across Arizona.
Beginning in 2026-27, GCU's media reach also includes the Mountain West's national television partnerships with CBS Sports, FOX Sports and The CW Network, along with the MW+ direct-to-consumer streaming platform.
