Henley joins NBA Summer League for Pistons

Detroit adds GCU 6-7 guard to roster after his All-MW season
Grand Canyon guard Jaden Henley launched his NBA journey Wednesday night by agreeing to play in the NBA Summer league for the Detroit Pistons.
Henley, the Lopes' leading scorer last season, follows the professional path of Gabe McGlothan, who will be playing for the Indiana Pacers in his third NBA Summer League.
"Just wanted to say thank you for all the support that you all showed me and all the rest of the student-athletes at GCU," Henley said in a video for Lopes Club members. "Just so you all know, I'm always proud to be a Lope. Lopes up."
After a 60-22 season, Detroit enters the summer with its roster situation in flux because of open spots, Jalen Duren's restricted free agency, Tobias Harris' unrestricted free agency and potential trades. The Pistons made NBA Draft night deals to select 6-foot-1 guard Ebuka Okorie of Stanford in the first round at No. 17 and 7-foot center Ugunna Oneyno of Virginia in the second round at No. 53.
Henley, 22, averaged career highs across the board as a GCU senior with 17.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game – numbers only two other players in the nation reached. Henley attended pre-draft workouts with 15 NBA teams, including Detroit. He also starred at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament to make that all-tourney team. Pistons president of basketball operations Trajan Langdon is known to value positional size, and Henley offers that as a 6-foot-7 guard.
NBA Summer League will take place July 9-19 in Las Vegas.
