Taryn Batterton earned Mountain West Pitcher of the Week after pitching six scoreless innings over the weekend to lead GCU to a series win over UNLV.

The senior played in her final three home games at GCU Softball Stadium alongside three other seniors who were honored after Sunday's Senior Day win.
Batterton started in Game 2 of the series Saturday after the Lopes dropped the series opener in extra innings. While the offense erupted for 10 runs, Batterton did her part as well, pitching all five of the run-rule innings and not allowing a run. She struck out five, only allowing three hits in the contest.
The native of Latta, Oklahoma, then appeared in Game 3 with the series on the line, entering the in the top of the seventh with a two-run lead. Batterton got through the inning of work unscathed and earned her third save of the season. The victory GCU clinched a first-round bye in the Mountain West Championship.
Batterton is 10-1 on the season, with a 4-1 conference record. She has a 2.54 ERA with four complete games and three saves over 80 innings. Despite rough outings over the past month, Batterton seems to be returning to form as the Lopes make a postseason push, something the Lopes pitching staff could use in a big way.
Batterton and the Lopes are 45-7 on the season with an 18-4 conference record that gives them a two-game lead on second-place Nevada. With just three regular-season games remaining, one win at Colorado State this weekend clinches at least a share of the MW regular-season title and a series win clinches it outright.
