GCU took a 62-60 lead with 6:11 to go when senior guard
Jaden Henley slammed on a fastbreak while being fouled for a 3-point play. The Lopes did not score for the next 4:27, missing three 3-point shots and making two turnovers as New Mexico retook the lead with a pair of second-chance buckets.
Henley pulled GCU within a point with another inside score to make the Lobos' lead 65-64 with 1:44 to play but Hall wound the shot clock down before making a fadeaway baseline jumper to lead 67-64 with 29.1 seconds to go. Facing zone defense down the stretch, the Lopes' last four shots of the game were missed 3-pointers.

Quotable
GCU head coach
Bryce Drew: "First half, obviously, they made a lot of shots. We didn't defend. We didn't hit or keep the ball in front of us at all. Finally, the last four minutes of the half, we got it to 13 at half. And then in the second half, I thought we were aggressive. I thought we finally started connecting. We started actively guarding guys and giving max effort, trying to stay in front of somebody instead of being basically backed up."
What's next?
The Lopes play at San José State on Saturday at 3 p.m. (Phoenix time) to start a road trip that will continue to San Diego State on Tuesday night.
