RENO, Nev. – A shorthanded Grand Canyon team took a heartbreaking 66-60 overtime loss at Nevada after holding a nine-point lead with less than five minutes to go and a six-point lead with less than two minutes remaining in regulation Tuesday night at Lawlor Events Center.
Missing injured starters

Caleb Shaw, the Lopes (13-7, 6-3 Mountain West) dropped the only game of the season to the Wolf Pack (15-6, 7-3 MW) with four missed free throws in the final two minutes and a foul on a Nevada 3-point shot with a three-point lead and eight-tenths of a second remaining. In front of a crowd of 8,728 fans, Nevada improved to 10-2 at home when it scored eight unanswered points in overtime.

Efe Demirel posted the first double-double of his career wtih 14 points and 10 rebounds in a career-high 37 minutes. Demirel also blocked two shots and got a steal while making 7 of 8 shots from the field.
When the Lopes' usual scorers struggled in the first half, Demirel accounted for one-third of GCU's points for Nevada to only lead 26-14 at halftime.
Key moment
After scoring on seven consecutive possessions for a 52-43 lead with 4:40 to go, GCU was outscored 10-1 over the remainder of the game.
GCU still led 52-46 with two minutes remaining, but it missed four of five free throws and committed a turnover to set up a last chance for Nevada. Lopes senior guard
Jaden Henley, who posted his second consecutive double-double, missed two free throws with 5.1 seconds remaining and the Lopes took a non-shooting foul with 1.3 seconds to go.
Nevada inbounded to junior guard Tyler Rollison, a 21% 3-point shooter, and GCU junior guard
Makaih Williams fouled him before the regulation buzzer. Rollison made all three free throws to send the game to overtime.

GCU starters played 207 of the game's 225 minutes Nevada star Elijah Price fouled out with minimal impact in 24 minutes and top shooter Corey Camper Jr. went 3 for 13, but the Wolf Pack bench stepped up to outscored Lopes subs 41-2.
Nevada junior guard Chuck Bailey III came off the bench for 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting, and freshman power forward Peyton White was a plus-27 in his 29 reserve minutes.
