The first Grand Canyon men's basketball conference action in the Mountain West will start Dec. 20 but not come to Global Credit Union Arena until 2026.

The Lopes' 20-game Mountain West schedule was revealed Friday with the Lopes opening conference play at Wyoming on Dec. 20 and having a bye before conference games ring in the new year with MW Championship winner Colorado State visiting Global Credit Union Arena on Jan. 3.
Taking on last season's sixth-ranked conference, GCU will get a weekly dose of Tuesday and Saturday tests without staying at home or on the road for more than two games consecutively. With a 20-game slate and a 12-member conference, GCU's MW schedule will not include playing at Colorado State or hosting Nevada this season.
All conference dates and times are subject to change pending national broadcast selections to be announced before the season.
Besides Colorado State, some of the Lopes' most-anticipated home games include the MW's three other 2025 NCAA Tournament qualifiers: Utah State on Jan. 17, San Diego State on Jan. 20 and New Mexico on Feb. 10.
Those NCAA Tournament teams will give GCU some of the most challenging home games of the season too. New Mexico (15-1), Colorado State (14-2), Utah State (15-2) and San Diego State (12-3) join Boise State (13-3) as conference teams that lost three or fewer home games overall last season.
Although the Lopes do not go to Colorado State, they will play at Boise State on Jan. 6 and New Mexico on Jan. 13 in standalone trips. GCU's trip to San Diego State on Feb. 17 follows a Feb. 14 game at San José State. The Lopes will go to Utah State on Feb. 28 as part of the last conference season trip with a March 3 game at Air Force.
GCU's regular season will end with a March 7 home game against Fresno State.
Of the 11 teams in the Mountain West last season, seven finished with overall winning records and five won more than 20 games. San Diego State reached the NCAA Tournament for the fifth consecutive year while Utah State punched its third consecutive Big Dance ticket. GCU has reached the NCAA Tournament in four of the past five seasons under head coach
Bryce Drew.
The Mountain West's four-team NCAA Tournament contingent followed a 2024 season in which the MW qualified six teams, tying with the Big Ten for the third-most qualifiers in the nation behind only the Big 12 and SEC.
With a Dec. 30 conference bye, GCU will not be idle between its Dec. 20 and Jan. 3 conference games. The Lopes play a nonconference game against IU Indy on Dec. 22 at Global Credit Union Arena.
