Grand Canyon completed its roster with verve by signing a young, promising French guard to join the Lopes for the upcoming season.
Evan Boisdur, 19, will join GCU for the upcoming season after splitting his time this year between the highest French league and an under-21 development league and playing for France's U20 team in the European Championships next month. The 6-foot-1, 182-pound playmaker is originally from the French island of Guadeloupe in the south Caribbean Sea.
"Evan is a great addition to our team," GCU head coach
Bryce Drew said. "He defends and scores the ball very well. We look forward to him having a great future at GCU."
Boisdur (pronounced
Bwah-dur) played on the French team that finished runner-up in the 2023 3x3 U18 World Cup and has been part of BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque since 2021. His stature grew this year with his play for U21 developmental team, for which he had limited practice time because of his play with the parent club.
On the U21 level, Boisdur averaged 21.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.5 steals per game. He made 52% of his 2-point shots and 31% from 3-point range, where he took nine attempts per game. He also shot 76% at the free throw line.
"I really liked GCU because, when I talked with the coaches, I really felt an early connection right away. I liked all the people, and the fact that they put God in the middle of everything. That is something I really like. I feel like they have a good program that was the best choice for me."

Boisdur, from the same Lesser Antilles island as former NBA player Mickael Pietrus, will be the 11th newcomer on the 15-player GCU roster. French basketball has boomed in recent years, including having six French players taken (three in each round) in this week's NBA Draft.
Boisdur, currently training in Paris, will play this summer for France in the U20 European Championship, which runs July 12-20 in Greece.
"I'm somebody who can score the ball," Boisdur said. "I can create for my teammates also. I'm a big defensive player on the ball, picking up players full-court and stuff like that."
Boisdur grew up playing for his father's club in Guadeloupe before moving to France at age 16 to join BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque. Despite the trans-Atlantic move from his parents and brother, Boisdur has only played for two clubs in his life.
He is known for being versatile and athletic with his transition, pick-and-roll and isolation. Boisdur credited his time with the BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque parent club for increasing his game intensity.
"I have a different kind of experience," Boisdur said. "I experienced many, many things, but college basketball is something I haven't been through. This experience is going to bring me new challenges, a new way to play and give me a future in basketball in the State and Europe. Every day, I will learn from the experience.
"I know GCU has good weather, and I saw the crowd going crazy every game. I like the atmosphere, for sure. I'm excited to get to work and win a lot of games."
