Kirk wins WAC Player of the Week

Sophomore 2nd baseman among nation's best in hits, stolen bases
Grand Canyon second baseman Savannah Kirk was awarded WAC Softball Player of the Week for Week 5 of the softball season.
The WAC Preseason Player of the Year has been on an absolute tear to start the season, hitting .513 through the first 23 games. The sophomore has started every game at second base and batting leadoff.
In four GCU wins Thursday through Sunday, Kirk went 7 for 12 with five runs and five stolen bases. Her 40 hits this season rank sixth in the nation and first in the WAC. Her 23 stolen bases rank fifth in the country and also leads the conference.
Kirk is riding a 13-game hit streak, snagging a hit in every game this season except one (Oregon). The program record is a 20-game hit streak by Sierra Smith in 2018.
Kirk joins freshman Jada Cooper (Week 4) and junior Taryn Batterton (Week 1) as WAC Players and Pitchers of the Week award winners, respectively, for GCU this season.
The Lopes (20-3) take an eight-game winning streak into WAC play with a Friday-Saturday series at Utah Valley.
