After a career night led him to a career milestone in a career season, Grand Canyon senior
Jaden Henley added to the distinctions Tuesday when he was named the program's first Mountain West Player of the Week winner.

Henley, a 6-foot-7 guard from Ontario, California, averaged 23.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals while making 16 of 22 shots from the field (73%) and 4 of 6 from 3-point range (67%) in the two GCU victories considered for the weekly conference award.
On Monday night, Henley broke the career scoring high that he had set earlier this month and passed the 1,000-point career mark. His 29-point, eight-rebound onslaught helped the Lopes beat IU Indy 91-78 after he had posted 18 points and four rebounds Saturday when GCU (8-4) won at Wyoming in the Lopes' conference debut.
For the season, Henley is posting per-game career bests in points (17.8), rebounds (4.8), assists (2.2) and steals (1.8) while shooting a career-high 47.6% from the field.
"It feels pretty good," Henley said. "All the preparation you put in and all the work shows out here. My teammates trusted me to get me the ball in the right positions and me being able to score."
Henley topped the 26-point mark he had set for a career high on Dec. 2 vs. Stetson with a 29-point game Monday night on 10-of-13 shooting, including his second consecutive 2-for-3 performance from 3-point range. Henley continually drove in half-court sets and transition opportunities for finishes at the rim and drawn fouls
Early in the game, Henley scored nine unanswered points to put GCU ahead 14-7 and the Lopes never trailed again.
"He made really good decisions up top," GCU head coach
Bryce Drew said. "Once he gets it one on one or gets a guy on his hip around that rim, he's so good at stepping through and Eurostepping. Those are tough moves that he makes look easy around the rim."
The Lopes (8-4, 1-0 MW) will take a holiday break before resuming Mountain West play at home Jan. 3 against Colorado State (9-3, 0-1 MW).
