Grand Canyon takes its first three-game winning streak of the season into the Christmas break after withstanding IU Indy's relentless pressure for a 91-78 victory Monday night at Global Credit Union Area.
The Lopes (8-4) used five double-digit scorers to close their nonconference schedule with a victory that they led for 38 minutes.
Key player

GCU senior guard
Jaden Henley set a career high with 29 points, going 10 of 13 from the field and making 7 of 9 at the free throw line. Henley also shared the team rebounding lead with freshman center
Efe Demirel and graduate power forward
Nana Owusu-Anane, all of whom grabbed eight rebounds.
Henley passed the 1,000-point mark on his last free throw trip of the game. His driving ability at 6 feet 7 was a continuous problem for IU Indy, the most foul-prone team in the nation.
Key moment
IU Indy made a second-half surge to cut GCU's lead to 67-64 with 9:29 remaining in the game, but the Lopes responded with a 15-2 run that included five points from junior guard
Dusty Stromer.
GCU led 82-67 after the spurt and kept the lead in double digits for the remainder of the game.
Key statistic
GCU used IU Indy's foul propensity to its advantage, drawing 22 fouls and capitalizing by making 26 of 30 free throws. The Lopes outscored the Jaguars by 17 at the charity stripe.
