Grand Canyon setter/opposite Bella Nunez was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week for the fourth time, following a dominant all-around performance that fueled a pair of Lopes victories over Air Force and Nevada

Nunez showcased remarkable balance and versatility throughout last week's home matches, totaling 20 kills (2.9-per-set average), 38 assists (5.4 average), seven blocks (1.0 average) and 10 digs (1.4 average) while hitting an efficient .333.
Against Air Force, Nunez notched 11 kills on .304 hitting and added 23 assists in a 3-1 comeback win. The El Paso, Texas, native followed that with nine kills and 15 assists on .364 hitting in a sweep of Nevada. Her impact extended beyond the stat sheet, as she produced 23.5 points during the sweep week and managed 111 set attempts to lead GCU's offense.
GCU defeated Air Force 3-1 (17-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-19) and swept Nevada 3-0 (25-13, 25-7, 25-23) to improve its conference standing to a fourth-place tie after seven wins in the last eight matches.
The Lopes (15-8, 7-5 MW) remain home this week for a 6 p.m. Thursday match against San Diego State (12-11, 7-5 MW) and a 1 p.m. Saturday match against UNLV (11-11, 5-7 MW) at Global Credit Union Arena.
