Tyon Grant-Foster continued his strong all-around play and broke out in the scoring column Saturday night to earn WAC Player of the Week.

Grant-Foster matched his season highs for points (23) and rebounds (nine) while adding three steals and two blocks in GCU's 82-71 victory against Southern Utah at Global Credit Union Arena. The 6-foot-7 graduate went 7 for 15 from the field, 3 of 5 on 3-pointers and 6 of 8 at the free throw line to match his scoring total in a Dec. 23 win against Hawai'i.
"We were in practice this week, and every time we had an extra (shot), they were passing it to me and telling me to shoot the ball," Grant-Foster said. "This means so much to me. We're about to be a special team this year. We're about to do so much."
The Lopes (11-4, 1-0 WAC) are on a five-game winning streak but have not had one of their players win WAC Player of the Week since opening week, when senior power forward
JaKobe Coles was honored.
This season, Grant-Foster is posting career-high averages for rebounds (6.5), steals (2.0) and assists (1.9) while also averaging 13.1 points per game and 1.4 blocked shots per game.
GCU takes a five-game winning streak into its first WAC road contest Thursday night at Utah Valley (9-6, 1-0 WAC).
