Former Grand Canyon soccer star
Gianna Gourley was selected as a NCAA Woman of the Year nominee by the WAC after a a record-breaking career that culminated in two NCAA tournament teams and a GCU degree with a 3.91 grade point average.

The 34th annual NCAA Woman of the Year recognizes graduated student-athletes for excellence in academics, athletics, community service and leadership. This fall, 30 nominees will become finalist before the winner is announced at the NCAA Convention in January.
Gourley, a Las Vegas native, earned a bachelor's degree in business management while being a two-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-American in 2022 and 2023 and a United Soccer Coaches Academic All-American in 2023.
Gourley was named 2023 WAC Offensive Player of the Year after leading the conference in goals (21) and points (47) across 23 matches in her final collegiate season. Those marks broke her own GCU records and ranked in the top four nationally last season. Gourley added 2023 WAC Tournament Outstanding Player to her resume after scoring three goals and helping guide GCU to its second NCAA tournament berth in three seasons.
Gourley, a three-time first-team All-WAC choice (2021-23), was a two-time United Soccer Coaches All-Pacific Region first-team player and was the Lopes' first All-America honoree as a third-team United Soccer Coaches All-American last season. Gourley capped her GCU career with 49 goals, 15 assists and 14 match-winning goals in 65 matches, making her the national leader in career goals among active Division I players during her senior season.
This Saturday, Gourley opens her professional career for Fort Lauderdale United FC of the USL Super League.
