Grand Canyon senior outfielder
Tyler Wilson added another recognition to his long list of accolades, landing on the Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association All-West Region's second team.
Wilson was one of four WAC players to earn honors for the All-West Region, which includes a pool of players from the WAC, Pac-12, Mountain West and Big West conferences.
Wilson capped a memorable four-year GCU career with his best season yet in 2024, leading the Lopes with a WAC-best.378 batting average, 17 home runs and 65 RBIs.
WAC coaches recognized Wilson by labeling him the conference's best player in end-of-year polling. He was GCU's third player — all outfielders — to be named WAC Player of the Year, following in the footsteps of eventual MLB Draft picks Garrison Schwartz (2017) and Quin Cotton (2018).
Wilson batted at least .300 in all four of his seasons as a Lope. His 242 career hits ranked 50th in Division I among active players.
The Lopes leadoff batter continued a long track record of success at Tucson's Hi Corbett Field, this time in the NCAA postseason. He was named to the All-Tucson Regional team after helping lead the Lopes to their first and second NCAA Division I tournament victories in program history.
