Graduate pitcher claims one of the last weekly awards of the WAC 2024 season
Grand Canyon's Megan Schumacher earned WAC Pitcher of Week after an outstanding outing in the circle.
The Lopes (45-11, 23-3) went 3-1 against No. 18 Arizona (L, 2-3) before sweeping Abilene Christian in the final WAC series of the season during Senior Weekend.
Schumacher started the Abilene Christian series opener, picking up her sixth win of the season, with a 1.17 ERA, four strikeouts, a .143 opponent batting average, three hits and one run in six innings pitched.
GCU will compete for its third consecutive WAC Championship title, as the No. 1 seed, in Seattle, Wash. on Thursday at 1 p.m. (Phoenix time) in the quarterfinal game against a to-be-determined opponent from the opening rounds on Wednesday.
