Grand Canyon will make its third NCAA tournament appearance in four years on the merits of its regular-season dominance in the WAC.

GCU earned the conference's automatic berth to an NCAA regional as the WAC regular-season champion because WAC Tournament champion Tarleton State is ineligible for NCAA postseason play in the last year of its Division I transition period.
The Lopes get a reprieve for being eliminated from the WAC Tournament on Thursday night with the chance to show the merits of their 23-7 conference season. GCU won the WAC by five games.
"Our guys earned this by winning the WAC over a 30-game schedule," Lopes head coach
Gregg Wallis said. "When we lost in the tournament, it was tough. We knew we had one out. And it hit. We're grateful for this opportunity and excited to see where we are going for an NCAA regional."
GCU will learn its NCAA tournament fate at 9 a.m. Monday, when the 64-team field with 16 regionals is unveiled on ESPN2. The four-team, double-elimination regionals will begin Friday and run through Monday, June 3.
The Lopes were sent to Tucson in 2021 for a regional hosted by Arizona and Stillwater, Oklahoma, in 2022 for a regional hosted by Oklahoma State.
Eleven current GCU players were on the program's last regional team in 2022, including WAC Player of the Year
Tyler Wilson and fellow starters such as
Elijah Buries,
Dustin Crenshaw and
Cade Verdusco. Thet group also includes
Maxwell Andeel,
