GCU sweeps Pitcher, Player of the Week awards for 1st time this season
Grand Canyon junior pitcher Emily Darwin and graduate utility player Kristin Fifield earned WAC Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, after strong performances in California this weekend.Â
The Lopes improved to 20-5 with a 4-1 record at the Louisville Slugger Invitational.
Darwin made three appearances in the circle, with a start against Yale and a win against Princeton. In 7 2/3 innings, she posted a 0.91 ERA with two strikeouts while only allowing four hits and two runs.
Meanwhile, Fifield swung for a .471 batting average and /824 slugging percentage while tallying eight runs, four RBIs and eight hits, including two doubles and two triples.Â
GCU continues the season with a Tuesday matchup at Arizona State at 6 p.m. (Phoenix time).Â
