Grand Canyon posted its second-largest blowout against a Division I opponent by using a 61-23 first half and a career night by sophomore guard
Makaih Williams to devastate Bryant with a 112-66 rout Monday night at Global Credit Union Arena.
The Lopes (10-4) will enter WAC play next weekend with four consecutive wins after holding the Bulldogs 18 points below their scoring average with advantages of 35-8 in second-chance points and 37-7 in points off turnovers.
Key player

GCU sophomore guard
Makaih Williams set his career scoring high before halftime with 25 of his 31 points. Williams also set a career high for steals with five and did not commit a turnover in 29 minutes of play. Williams did not make a field goal in Saturday's win against San Diego but went 9 for 16 from the field, 3 of 6 on 3-pointers and 10 of 11 at the free throw line.
Key moment
The Lopes lead was only 13-11 through the first eight minutes of the game, but a string of three consecutive Bryant turnovers flipped the game into a landslide. GCU outscored Bryant 48-12 over the final 12 minutes of the first half with the Bulldogs committing 15 first-half turnovers.
Key statistics
GCU won the game by 46 points, one shy of the program record for winning margin against a Division I opponent. The 104 points matched the Lopes' scoring high against a D-I opponent.
Quotable
Lopes head coach
Bryce Drew: "It was fun to watch them. The Norfolk game, we were good. I think we were even better this half. I thought we were just sensational in that first half. That group that was in with Makaih, Ray, Caleb, Lok and Duke was just fantastic building that huge lead going into halftime. In the second half, we lost a quick eight points. But after that, we outscored them by 15 the rest of the second half. It's hard to have a really good half and back it up with another half that you win. I'm really, really proud that the guys were able to put two halves together."
