Two of the WAC's predicted top teams will be featured on an ESPNU broadcast when Grand Canyon plays host to Seattle U in a Jan. 30 game at Global Credit Union Arena.
The GCU-Seattle U matchup, which will tip off at 9 p.m. (Phoenix time), is the Lopes' fourth national network regular-season game. The Lopes were the unanimous pick among opposing WAC coaches to repeat a conference championship while Seattle U was selected third after a 23-win season that ended with a College Basketball Invitational title.
GCU won two of three meetings against Seattle U last season, including an overtime home victory and a WAC Tournament semifinal win. The two teams account for three of the five spots on the Preseason All-WAC Team (graduate guard
Tyon Grant-Foster and senior guard
Ray Harrison for GCU and junior John Christofilis for Seattle U).
The game, which will be a "White Out" at Global Credit Union Arena, was one of three WAC matchups that will be on ESPNU. The network also will broadcast Utah Valley at California Baptist on Jan. 23 and Tarleton State at UT Arlington on Feb. 22.
Thus far, GCU has been selected for three other nationally broadcast regular-season games outside of 25 ESPN+ streams:
- vs. Arizona State at Footprint Center in Phoenix on Nov. 14 (ESPN2)
- vs. Stanford at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, California, on Nov. 26 (truTV)
- vs. Georgia at State Farm Arena in Atlanta on Dec. 24 (SEC Network)
The Lopes, coming off a 30-5 season with an NCAA tournament win, will make their 2024-25 debut Tuesday night with a 7 p.m. exhibition home game against Eastern New Mexico.
