Grand Canyon right-handed pitcherÂ
Cody Tucker signed a free-agent deal with the San Francisco Giants.

With last week's draft selections of
Jacob Wilson,
Homer Bush Jr. and
Zach Thornton, the Lopes have now had four players from this year's roster turn pro.
"We're excited for Tuck," Lopes pitching coach
Nathan Bannister said. "He's earned this opportunity because of the dedication to his craft. You could see him ascending throughout the year, and it's time for him to challenge professional hitters with his 97 mile per hour fastball. We wish him the best."
Tucker's baseball career featured a few collegiate stops after graduating from Mesa High School — Mesa Community College, CSU Bakersfield for 2021 and 2022 and a fifth year for GCU's conference championship team this season.
Tucker debuted as a Lope with back-to-back, three-inning scoreless relief outings against Michigan and Ohio State with four strikeouts apiece. He also tossed three scoreless innings in relief in a win over Arizona later in the season.
With a plus fastball that reaches 97 mph, Tucker garnered additional attention with summer ball stints in the MLB Draft League and Appalachian League.
While San Francisco has selected 10 Lopes all-time in the MLB Draft, Tucker's signing marks the first time the Giants have signed a GCU player as an undrafted free agent. Most recently, the Giants picked Tyler Wyatt
in the 31st round of the 2019 draft and Jake Wong
in the third round of the 2018 draft. Wong was traded to the Cincinnati Reds last December and
debuted for the MLB club in June.
Tucker's signing is the 25th free-agent signing in program history and runs the total to eight in the last eight years.
The Giants' have a spring training home and minor league complex in Scottsdale.
