Grand Canyon senior guard
Tyon Grant-Foster went beyond outplaying conference newcomers and won WAC Player of the Week for posting his first two career double-doubles in Lopes wins last week.

Grant-Foster ranks ninth nationally in scoring at 22.3 points per game after averaging 23.0 points in GCU's conference wins at UT Rio Grande Valley (79-69) on Wednesday and at home against UT Arlington (76-69) on Saturday. He also averaged 11.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks in his 25-point, 11-rebound game at UTRGV and the 21-point, 10-rebound game against UT Arlington.
The Kansas City, Kansas, native helped the Lopes move to 6-1 by shooting 50% from the field (14 for 28), 38% from 3-point range (3 for 8) and 75% at the free throw line (15 for 20). Grant-Foster ranks 22nd nationally for free throw attempts with 60 in seven games. He is the first GCU player to win WAC Player of the Week, but he also was named the WAC Newcomer of the Week for the third consecutive week.
GCU returns to nonconference play this week for a pair of marquee games, starting with 2023 national runner-up and 25th-ranked San Diego State (7-1) visiting GCU Arena for a 7 p.m. game Tuesday. The Lopes play Saturday at Liberty (6-2). Both games will be broadcast on ESPNU.
