Grand Canyon senior forward
Gianna Gourley and junior goalkeeper
DeAira Jackson were honored with multiple postseason academic awards.
Gourley earned a pair of Academic All-America honors from
United Soccer Coaches and the
College Sports Communicators, while also joining Jackson on the United Soccer Coaches
Scholar All-West Region team.
Gourley was named a CSC Academic All-American for the second consecutive year and has earned three first-team honors.
Gourley and Jackson had stellar seasons for the Lopes' NCAA tournament qualifier while excelling in the classroom. Gourley recorded a 3.92 GPA while Jackson had a 4.0 GPA in graduate programs.
On the field, Gourley had a historic final collegiate season breaking her own GCU single-season records with 21 goals and 47 points. Those totals were top-four marks in the nation, and the Las Vegas native went on to earn WAC Offensive Player of the Year and WAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors.
Along with the academic honors, Gourley was named to the
Top Drawer Soccer Best XI Team to go along with her previous honor on the coaches' All-America third team.
Jackson dazzled in her first season with the Lopes, setting a new program record with seven shutouts. The Fontana, California, native allowed just 20 goals in 23 matches and was named to the All-WAC second team and WAC All-Tournament team.
