Duke Brennan was named the WAC Newcomer of the Week after a career night against Sam Houston on Dec. 20.

A Lopes player has taken home at least one of the conference's two weekly awards — Player of the Week or Newcomer of the Week — in six consecutive weeks.
In the Lopes' lone game of the week against Sam Houson, Brennan scored a career-high 19 points and paired it with 10 rebounds for his second career double-double. His first career double-double came in the season opener against Southeast Missouri State when he posted 12 points and 10 rebounds.
"Really credit Duke," GCU head coach
Bryce Drew said following the Lopes' 10th win. "Duke rolled, made some tough catches and finishes at the rim that were really big for us especially in that second half."
Brennan, a 6-foot-10, 250-pound Chandler native, went 8 for 10 from the field, grabbed three steals and added a block. The efficient shooting performance improved his field goal percentage to 64.7% on the season. Brennan added seven points to his previous career high in points.
"I was feeling it out there, but I give all the credit to my teammates," Brennan said following the win. "They were able to find me in certain zones and certain places for me to get angles and get buckets down the stretch.
"No one on the team is selfish. Everyone loves each other. Everyone comes out and competes every day in practice. Whoever scores and whoever's night it is, we all enjoy each other so much."
Brennan led his team in the scoring column for the second time in his career, last leading Arizona State with a 12-point performance at San Francisco on Dec. 21, 2022.
