Grand Canyon has added a men's basketball game at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona, on Wednesday, Dec. 27 at 1 p.m. against Bethesda University.
GCU has partnered with Luke Air Force Base to host the game and honor troops by limiting attendance to exclusively members of the local military community to receive free admission. The gym seats 800 spectators and will be fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis.
The game will not be televised but will air on GCU's usual radio home, 1580 The Fanatic, 99.3 FM, 95.9 FM, and the 1580 The Fanatic mobile app and website.
This game will be the 31st and final game that fills GCU's regular-season schedule. Teams who compete in multi-team events (the Lopes played in the Arizona Tip-off) are permitted to schedule 31 games.
The addition of the matchup against Bethesda marks GCU's only game against a non-Division I opponent on its 2023-24 schedule. Games against non-Division I opponents do not factor into the NCAA's NET rankings, nor do the games receive a point value in the WAC Resume Seeding System. Teams who schedule three or more games against non-Division I opponents are penalized 0.50 points in the WAC Resume Seeding System.
The venue for this game is the Bryant Fitness Center (located at 14053 W Shooting Star Street, Glendale, Arizona 85309), on Luke Air Force Base.
