Two huge Grand Canyon victories required outstanding performances from power forward
Gabe McGlothan, who earned his second career WAC Player of the Week award for his efforts.

McGlothan, the 6-foot-7, 235-pound graduate student, averaged 18 points, 10 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal in the Lopes' high-profile wins last week — a 79-73 home win against then-No. 25 San Diego State on Tuesday and a 69-63 victory at Liberty on Saturday to end the Flames' 20-game home winning streak.
In the two games combined, McGlothan shot 76.5% from the field (13 for 17), 50% from 3-point range (3 for 6) and 87.5% from the free throw line (7 for 8). In Saturday's win, McGlothan was 9 for 10 from the field with only a 3-point miss. He is one of 25 players in the nation to shoot 90% from the field with at least 10 field goal attempts this season. Only 14 of those grabbed seven or more rebounds in the same game, as McGlothan did with seven boards.
That followed the fourth-best rebounding game of his GCU career on Tuesday against San Diego State, when he grabbed nine of his 13 in the first half. The 15-point, 13-rebound effort marked his 17th career double-double.
McGlothan, averaging 11.7 points and 8.3 rebounds on the season for the 8-1 Lopes, has scored 999 points at the GCU. With his next point, he will become the 27th member of the Lopes' 1,000-point club. He ranks seventh in career scoring for the Lopes' Division I era and already has passed 1,000 points for his career, which includes a freshman season at Southeast Missouri.
